Summary:
Under the direction of the Materials Manager, plans, directs and coordinates activities relating to the materials department activities including safety, quality, productivity and employee relations.
Supervises the Materials department's Team Leaders and Material Handlers.
REQUIRED SKILLS/
Experience:
Associates degree in related field.
Minimum two (2) years supervisory and progressive experience in related field.
Experience in a warehouse environment including shipping, transportation, and/or distribution preferred Lead, manage, and motivate personnel.
Team oriented and able to interact with people at all levels and departments.
Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills.
Working knowledge of safety standards and OSHA guidelines.
Solid understanding and experience in Lean Manufacturing.
Excellent problem-solving skills in order to perform job duties independently and make decisions that meet departmental goals and objectives.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication/negotiation skills in order to perform job duties in an appropriate manner.
Must be able to independently research and recommend new processes, technology enhancements, etc.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and changing priorities.
Project management and leadership skills to lead, manage, and prioritize issues for a broad range of processes, teams, and/or skill areas or a large group of employees.
Excellent team facilitation, leadership, and motivation skills.
Must be able to build a team environment that supports cooperation and cohesiveness among work team and other areas within the organization.
Proficient with MRP and SAP systems.
Proficient Microsoft Office Skills:
Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
PREFFERED SKILLS/
Experience:
Actively pursuing Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain/Logistics or related field.

years of supervisory experience in materials department at tier one automotive manufacturing facitlity.
DUTIES:
Supervises daily activities of the Materials department's Team Leaders and Material Handlers.
Plans, directs and coordinates movement of material within the receiving, shop floor and shipping areas.
Assist the Materials Manager in appropriate manpower requirements.
Assist in managing material cycle counts and annual physical inventory reconciliation.
Leads process improvement projects:
productivity, quality, ergonomics, material delivery routes, plant moves, etc.
Trains employees on their job duties and responsibilities; cross trains as necessary.
Ensures employees are consistently adhering to standardized work processes and rotation schedules.
Ensures all Company policies, procedures, plant standards and safety rules are consistently adhered to.
Collaborates with the Department and HR Managers in administering disciplinary action, when necessary.
Maintains employees' time related to the Attendance and Time-Off Policies.
Provides timely feedback on work performance and performance reviews.
Safety Audits and LPA are tracked and completed as scheduled.
Coordinate maintenance schedule of all Hi-Lo and other material movement devices.
Track/Maintain Receiving, shipping and crib issues that arise, escalate to address.
Ensure proto kits are tracked and completed per the schedule.
Line side storage is reviewed and maintained at proper levels.
Adhere to 5s processes within the Receiving, Storage, and Shipping areas.
Improve as necessary.
Track Shelf life on MRO products, work with purchasing to maintain.
Create Purchase Requests for material department.
Ensures all department targets are measured and documented for daily, weekly and monthly discussions.
